The Process of etching is really most intriguing because equipped studios can have the atmosphere of a bygone age full of chemical mysteries, hot wax, plates being smoked and baths of acid.

The Etchings

The style of my work developed out of an initial sketch I made onto an advert of a lounge in an Interiors Magazine. “Young Women,” left was the result. I realised I really liked working in this manner as not only was a stage set so to speak with the starting found image but that the photographic element gave an illusion of the real even though it isn’t.

The Beginning

Plates with hard ground along with the photopolymer plates.

The Drawing

Working on the plate in one of the work benches in the Graphic Studio Dublin.

Work Place

Top floor in the Graphic Studio Dublin where many of the etching presses are along with the hot plates and flattening machine.

Graphic Studio Dublin

Graphic Studio Dublin, the print studio where I make my printed work. A members run studio housed on four floors on the north side of Dublin, where not only is there every piece of equipment one could ever need but also amazing professional advice and technical support.
