About
I started making prints in the way that I do (a combination of drawing and photographic reproduction from found imagery) as part of a search for expression over technique. This search for employing the most suitable medium for the work at hand can be traced back to my formative years firstly my first years in art school where although there was a structure in place, the teachers seemed to be delighted if students took to their own initiative. Then later in Goldsmiths’ the art school most famous for allowing students of different courses to move happily from one discipline to another. I was on the Textiles/Fine Art but was often in the silk screen rooms, film and video and foundry of the Fine Art department. This led me to continue working with drawing, sewing, collage, printmaking and finally painting. I made a 48ft. billboard displayed on Vauxhall Bridge, sponsored by ADS Advertising Solutions in Moorgate and covered by The Face magazine. I also took part in a fashion show and art Gala in Riverside Studios, London which was curated by Krystina Kitsis from ZG magazine. My contribution for the catwalk, life size Barbie dolls, was covered by Vogue, The Face, Stern in Germany and the Sun newspaper. Queen of Hearts was worn by the late Paula Yeats on The Tube.
Well a little closer to today, my prints have been shown in exhibitions including the RA Summer Exhibition and the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin as well as the Jerwood Drawing Prize. My work is also held in public collections of the V& A, London, Scarborough Museum, Art UK, The National Botanical Gardens Archive, Dublin, The Graphic Studio Archive and the Ajunctament de Manacor, Mallorca, Spain.
